From the comments of this
post, in which AstralCodexTen!Scott argues that Gregory Cochran
had the right explanation for Jews being successful in intellectual
circles.

love the bit where Scott dismisses the “smartest person in the
world’s” explanation of his own lived experience without affording it a
second’s serious consideration.
Bare metal cognitive power and a rich family make you "godlike" until you fail to anticipate and agree with the HBD program, delicious.
If only von Neumann had known about genetics. Think of the blog posts he could have made
The rich family bit really got me. You can't say he didn't mention it, I guess, but it's pretty remarkable how little he makes of it, all things considering. Call me crazy, but I feel like a lot of small kids could learn a lot of languages, if they had private tutors instructing them on a bunch of languages from an extremely young age?
Every time one of these rationalists says "Bayes", onlookers learn little about Bayesian logic and a whole lot more about the vile priors that served as inputs.

Genetic explanations are a lazy way of avoiding much more difficult
social and cultural factors. And GOD FORBID addressing anything that’s
not quantifiable, that’s just crazy talk
These people look down on "soft" sciences such as sociology or anthropology, but their idea of "hard science" is just "all of my pre-existing biases and bigotries are objectively correct."
My wife and I are trying to conceive, and I found myself with a bit
of an agenda when reading The Man From The Future’s early chapters. Was
there anything special about von Neumann’s early years or education that
helped him rise above his fellow Martians? What can interested parents
do to improve their kid’s chances of becoming the world’s smartest
person?
I feel really, really sorry for Scott’s future child.
> What can interested parents do to improve their kid’s chances of becoming the world’s smartest person?
How is that even good? That would probably alienate you from any normal social circle. I would not wish that on anyone, much less deal with that as a parent.
>What can interested parents do to improve their kid’s chances of becoming the world’s smartest person?
Better hope they don't get so smart they decide to write and draw comic books about talking rabbits, I guess, since there are zero odds Siskind is thinking about anything but a pawn who will give him prestige later in life.

Behold the stunning powers of a bayesian as he uses a sample size of literally one (1) outlier to draw broad conclusions about society.
Sneerclubs reaction ;)
(more like, ‘we know Scott, we know’, it is interesting how mask off he went after he went on substack, wonder when he goes full open genetic racist)

Well then damn, that pathogen must have absolutely ravaged ancient Greece and Rome
I feel really, really sorry for Scott’s future child.
Those comments are impressively bad
Thinking Cochran is right about basically any of his ridiculous theories is one of the biggest red flags
